Any fan of American organ recordings by now knows that he is absolutely the finest organist for bringing out the best in an E.M. Skinner organ. His consummate skill in handling the swell boxes and pistons creates a breathtaking dynamic range fully enjoyable by any music lover, but amazing to the organists who stop to think just what it takes to make that happen. Around the time Tom had made this recording, he played much of the same program in recital where I play (Culver Academies), which gave me a close look at how he handles the instrument (Mendelssohn, Vivaldi, Howells, Pierne). The outstanding documentation that comes with this recording is also well worth adding to your collection!
